Watkins & Eager actively recruits law students who exhibit integrity, intelligence, and high motivation for associate positions with the firm. The firm invites applications nationwide but focuses its recruiting efforts on students attending regional law schools. On-campus interviews are held in the fall and spring at the University of Mississippi, Mississippi College, and Vanderbilt University. The firm actively recruits federal judicial clerks and minority applicants.
Our summer clerkship program provides prospective associates the opportunity to experience law practice at Watkins & Eager. During the summer, students perform substantive research and writing assignments, attend trials, depositions, and hearings, meet with clients and experts, draft documents, interview witnesses, conduct investigations, and participate as appropriate in all facets of law practice. A variety of social events is also planned. Although many Watkins & Eager associates have been hired through the summer clerkship program, the firm also interviews and hires qualified students who have not clerked with the firm.
In addition to traditional recruiting, the firm considers lateral applicants. Practicing attorneys interested in applying to Watkins & Eager should send a letter and resume, in confidence, to the Chairman of the Recruiting Committee.
